How to access our space and equipment.
For School of Design & Architecture staff and students:
1. Safety Induction
To gain access to the space, complete our Safety Induction.
Safety Inductions run from Week 1 - Week 4 each semester.
Watch the video series (45 minutes total) introducing the ProtoLAB and our safety procedures, then pass the associated online quiz
Book an in-person Safety Tour (duration: 45 minutes)

Once you complete the Safety Induction, you will have swipe access to the ProtoLAB.
The online modules (videos + quiz) must be repeated yearly to maintain your inducted status. The in-person Safety Tour is only required the first time you are inducted.
Levels of Access
For everyone's safety, there are 2 classes of access to our equipment:
Induction RequiredThe equipment is only to be operated by those who have completed the Induction.
Technician-AssistedThe equipment is only to be operated by a trained ProtoLAB Technician or under their guidance.
2. Equipment Inductions
After you have completed the Safety Induction, you may then complete Inductions for equipment you are interested in using.
Equipment Inductions run from Week 1 - Week 6 each semester.

The online modules must be repeated yearly to maintain your inducted status.
Job Submission
You may also submit files for the following machines and a technician will execute your job.
It will take a minimum of 7 days for your job to be completed. Check the Job Submission page for a time estimate.
Technician-Assisted Equipment
Book a Technician if you are interested in using Technician-Assisted equipment. Bookings must be made 1 week in advance.
You may also ask a technician for assistance during Open Hours, however bookings take priority.
Refer to the Equipment section for more information specific to each machine.
Consultations
You may also Book a Technician to discuss your project and how best to prototype it.
